A Quote Isn't
A Diagnosis.

A family came through here with a dealer quote for thousands in parts their truck did not need. We found the real fault and had them back on the road the same day. That is the whole job: work out what is actually wrong, tell you what it costs before we start, and hand it back right. 4.7 stars from 65 reviews.

We diagnose before we sell parts

A generic code is where most shops start guessing and your bill starts climbing. We stay on it until we know what is actually wrong. That one habit decides what the whole job costs you.

You get the options

There is usually more than one way to fix a diesel and they do not cost the same. We tell you what each one gets you and what it runs, then you pick. Nothing is ordered before that.

Tell us if you're travelling

A fire crew blew a turbo out here on a job and the dealership would not look at it for ten days. We had it back in service in under three. If a trip or a job is riding on your truck, say so and it changes where you sit in the queue.

Priced before we start

You get the number before the work begins. If we open it up and find something else, you hear about it before we touch it. An invoice should never be the first time you see a figure.

What rolls through the bay

Most shops pick one of these. We do all four.

Show Low sits where the highways cross the White Mountains, so no two days here look alike. A coach halfway through a summer trip. A work truck that has to earn tomorrow morning. A municipal rig. Somebody's daily driver. We are set up for all of it, which is why we are usually the only call you have to make.

Diesel pickupsPowerstroke, Cummins and Duramax. Exhaust, intake, turbo, transmission and the codes behind them.
Motorhomes & RVsDiesel pushers and coaches. Oil coolers, DPF work and the repairs that save a trip already booked.
Fleet & heavyWork trucks and commercial vehicles that cost money every day they sit in a yard.
Fire & municipalApparatus and service vehicles, handled with the urgency the job actually has.

What we do

Diesel repair, and the general work around it

Diagnosis first, always. Then the repair, with the options laid out before anything is ordered.

If it is outside what we do, we will tell you that instead of learning on your truck.

Call (928) 537-3207

Diagnostics

Check engine lights, generic codes and the faults another shop has already given up on. We chase it until it is found, then we tell you exactly what we found.

Engine work

Oil coolers, head gaskets, turbos and the internal work on Powerstroke, Cummins and Duramax platforms.

DEF, EGR & limp mode

Emissions faults, derates and the warnings that drop a truck into limp mode. We find the cause and repair it properly, and we walk you through the options first.

Transmission

Allison and other heavy automatics. Leaks, service and repair on trucks that tow for a living.

Exhaust & performance

Custom exhaust, intakes and top-of-the-line parts, fitted without cutting corners. People drive up from the Valley for this work rather than have it done down there.

Been quoted something scary?

Read us the quote over the phone. If it is fair we will tell you it is fair. If it is for parts you do not need, we will tell you that too.

About

A White Mountains shop, and the owner answers for it

We are on White Mountain Road in Show Low. Scott runs the shop. You may know us as Power House Diesel, which is the name on most of our sixty five reviews. Same building, same crew, same phone number. We answer every review that comes in, by name, the good ones and the hard ones both, because a shop that will not talk in public about its bad days is not telling you much about its good ones.

A diesel repair is a big bill and almost nobody can check the work themselves. All we can really offer is a shop that explains what it is doing, puts the number in front of you first, and stands behind the result. We remodelled the office last year so there is somewhere decent to sit while you wait for it.

Diesel and general repair

Diesel is what we are built around. We take the everyday work too.

Body work available

Ask when you book. Plenty of people have it done alongside a service.

The remodelled front office, with a leather armchair, a black and white tiled floor and a parts display along the wall.
The front office. Somewhere decent to wait, which is rarer than it should be.

“A dealership was wanting thousands for unnecessary parts... Now it took only a few and he got our truck going again. The day we brought it in.”

“We were in AZ/NM for work and we blew a turbo. They understood our need to get our fire engine back up and running and exceeded our expectations. They got us fixed up and back on the road in less than 3 days when the local dealership said they wouldn't even look at it for another 10 days.”

Ryan M. · Google review

“He saved my family of nine. We came from out of state, truck went down, and a dealership was wanting thousands for unnecessary parts... Then we found PHD. It took only a few and he got our truck going again, the day we brought it in. It is hard to find good and honest people.”

Nicole G. · Google review

“Scott took my diesel pusher motorhome in for a last minute repair, to change the oil cooler. The team working on the coach was super nice and did a great job. Thanks for fitting me in on short notice, allowing me to keep my travel plans.”

Paul P. · Google review

“My truck kept throwing a generic MAF code. They went way above and beyond to diagnose and fix the issue when no one else could. Fair price. Very friendly. Highly recommend.”

Josh M. · Google review

“He and his team diagnosed my DEF issue and proposed a couple of solutions to fix my limp mode problem. Couldn't be happier with the results. Quality parts and quality work!”

Joe M. · Google review

“I drove all the way from North Peoria to Show Low to have work done on my 6.7 Cummins Turbo Diesel, and it was well worth the trip. No corners were cut, and only top of the line parts and workmanship were used. My truck runs better than ever.”

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Anything not answered here, call the shop and ask.

(928) 537-3207
Do you work on motorhomes and RVs?

Yes, including diesel pushers and coaches. Oil coolers, DPF and exhaust work, and the diagnostics behind a warning light. If you are mid trip, say so when you call and we will do what we can to keep your plans intact.

I'm just passing through and I'm stuck. Can you help?

Tell us on the phone. Show Low sits on the routes through the mountains and we get these calls constantly, so being away from home moves you up the list wherever we can manage it. If we cannot get you out in time, we will say so rather than let you sit here hoping.

Another shop quoted me a huge number. Is it worth a second opinion?

Almost always. We have had people turn up with dealer quotes for thousands in parts that were not needed at all. Read us the quote over the phone and you will get a straight answer, including when the quote turns out to be a fair one.

Which engines do you work on?

Powerstroke, Cummins and Duramax are the everyday ones, plus Allison transmissions and heavier diesel platforms. General and gas work too.

Can you fix a DEF fault or a derate?

Yes. Emissions faults and limp mode come through here constantly. We find the actual cause and lay out the options for a proper repair before anything gets ordered.

How long will you have my vehicle?

It depends on the fault and on parts. You will get a real answer rather than an optimistic one, and if that changes while your vehicle is here, you hear it from us rather than find out at pickup.

Do you do body work?

Ask when you book. Customers do schedule body work alongside their service.

Weren't you called Power House Diesel?

Yes. Same shop, same building on White Mountain Road, same crew and the same phone number. Most of our reviews were left under the old name, and they are all still there on the listing.

Where are you and when are you open?
